3 things to know about Poser’s development

As you know, we are working to bring you a new version of Poser as quickly as possible. The first step was assembling the dev team and putting them to work.

The next steps are making sure we start at the right place to move the software forward. To keep you abreast of our progress, we'd like to share a few things with you.

We have targeted mid-September to launch the Poser 11.2 bridge release and tentative cut-over of the new license management system.

Nightly builds

Starting with Poser 11.2 as the core code, the dev team is building a 64-bit update for Windows.

To get the update coded, we are doing nightly builds and continuous testing with the beta team. The nightly builds mean the beta team always has the latest iteration to test, and we are getting immediate feedback from the team on what is working and what isn't.

On the Mac side, we are updating the code to the latest Apple compatibility. This means updating code base to work with latest Xcode, which is Apple's integrated development environment for macOS for developing software.

"It's our intention to stay current with both Windows and Mac builds," Choate said.

Marketplace search

One of the improvements we have added is an integrated marketplace search so you can easily purchase content directly through Poser and not have to visit a third-party site. This time-saving addition will make it easier than ever to add assets to your runtime.

Retro installers

If you loved the control of the individual installer, then you'll be pleased with its return. The new installer, which is downloaded from posersoftware.com, makes it easy to download Poser and complete installation.

After purchasing a new version or upgrading your old Poser, you will receive a serial number for your software and instructions for downloading the installer. Once all files are downloaded, you will first install Poser and then the supporting content. This will give you the opportunity to select what content you want to install to personalize your Poser experience.

Bonus: La Femme's match

Gabreil "Blackhearted" Creed is working on Le Femme's perfect match.

Called Le Homme, the male figure will contain improvements on previous male Poser figures like a high-quality skin textures and shaders, advanced facial expressions, weight mapping and more. Just like, La Femme he will work in both FireFly and SuperFly.

La Femme 1.1 uses a beautifully sculpted base model that gives artists what they need to create beautiful images. That means she is easy to pose and animate; her body handles give amazing flexibility in the figure; she has a fully rigged face and is remarkably expressive; has weight mapped figure scales that can add even more variety to characters; and is rigged to allow amazing freedom and detail in poses.
