First Poser 14 Update Introduces Poser Cloth Dynamics
As promised, the Poser team is pleased to announce a significant update to Poser 14. This release includes enhanced Physics/Cloth simulation replacing many of the old Cloth Room capabilities and adding some new features. This builds on top of Poser 14 previously announced ease-of-use improvements around simplified materials and backgrounds.
Improved Physics/Cloth Simulation
It also includes some Poser-specific special sauce that includes: cloth self-collision, the ability to control Collision shapes for simulated objects to support Convex Hull (rounded convex shapes for fast collision calculations) or TriangleMesh (mesh is re-worked with triangle topology for concave collision calculations required for clothing on the human form), and the ability to enable visualization of the collision proxies/targets used during simulation.
Poser Cloth - “Glue”
This new feature will auto-generate Animated Constraint weight-maps that adhere cloth/clothing objects to figure body parts based on proximity to the figure's skin in Frame 1 of the scene. During simulations, the cloth/clothing will then follow figure poses and morph adjustments over time using Live Simulation or the 'Calculate Simulation' button to generate successive frames of choreographed animation.
Poser Cloth - Big Picture
Collectively, these new features introduce a fundamentally new type of clothing that is a hybrid of traditional conforming clothing and dynamic clothing props. It derived from the observation that most clothing (conforming or dynamic) is modeled over a figure and proximity of the clothing to the figure skin could be used to calculated physics constraints that adhere (“glue”) the clothing to figure in a way that will follows figure poses and morph adjustments during simulation/animation. We’re excited about this new capability and can’t wait to see what users and creators will build. We also look forward to helping creators bring their dynamic props and simulations to market when the time is right.
Physics/Cloth Section Updated in User Manual
The user manual now includes a fresh section detailing the new Physics and Cloth simulation capabilities introduced in Poser. These additions give creators clear guidance on how to take full advantage of the expanded simulation tools.
